What are neurotoxins?

The popular brands of neuromodulators include Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport. All are FDA-approved to smooth out facial lines, especially on the forehead and around the eyes. 

Their primary ingredient is a derivative of the neurotoxin botulinum toxin. This toxin interferes with the signaling between your brain and muscles. 

How do neurotoxins work?

When a member of the aesthetic team at Stillwater Aesthetics and Wellness injects one of the neuromodulators into treatment areas, it works quickly to block cell signals traveling from your brain to your facial muscles.

You may feel slight stinging when the injections are first applied, but the sensation fades quickly. Your provider may ask you to make expressions at points during your treatment to determine the best places to apply the injections. 

Your appointment should take no more than 30 minutes. You don’t have to schedule downtime afterward, so you can go back to work or other daily activities right after your session.

How long do the effects of neurotoxins last?

Neurotoxin-containing injectables usually keep your face wrinkle-free for about 3-4 months.
